PESHAWAR: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) on Thursday filed a petition in the Peshawar High Court (PHC) against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for creating hurdles in the Azadi March.
The petition was filed by JUI-F Law Forum leader Abdullah Anwar. The petition stated that every Pakistani has the right of freedom of expression under the 1973 Constitution.
The petition further stated that the country’s constitution gives citizens the right to hold peaceful procession and peaceful rally, public gathering and protest. The provincial government has delivered containers to block important highways, which is illegal, the petition said.
A petition has also been filed against a ban to televise JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman by Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA).
