LAHORE: Inspector General of Police Punjab Captain (r) Arif Nawaz Khan on Friday said that Punjab Police is implementing community policing rules for public safety with help of effective use of modern technology and forensic sciences.
The IGP said that this initiative would allow for the improvement of public service delivery and would considerably curtail crime.
Moreover, he said that the police force is ensuring the use of modern education and working modules for crime investigation whereas Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) is engaged in intelligence-based operations in all districts of the province.
In addition to this, he said that the Special Protection Unit (SPU) is also providing protection to foreigners, investors, and specialists.
He said that Police Khidmat Marakiz have been separated from police stations for the facilitation of citizens where they are provided 14 services under one roof by using the latest integrated system.
He expressed these views during a meeting with the Philippines Embassy Police Attaché at Central Police Office Lahore today. During the meeting, the war against terrorists, drug peddlers, and topics of mutual interests were discussed.
Philippines Police Attaché Colonel Marloon expressed his admiration for Punjab Police efforts in the war against terror “despite limited resources”.
He also said that the fact that incidents of terrorism had considerably decreased was impressive and reflected on the professionalism and effectiveness of the provincial police force.
Moreover, he said that different IT-based projects of Punjab Police equipped with modern technology such as the Safe City Project in Lahore and other districts of province – which utilizes state of the art surveillance mechanisms — are commendable.
The Philippines Police Attaché said that professional cooperation and information sharing between the forces of the two countries will be enhanced.
