Dengue fever claims teenage girl’s life in Karachi

KARACHI: Dengue fever has claimed life of a girl in Karachi at a private hospital of the city, taking the death toll from this mosquito-borne disease to 19 since Jan 01, 2019.

Spokesman Prevention & Control Program for Dengue in Sindh, confirmed the death of a 20-year-old girl in a private hospital of Karachi and informed that a total of 19 people have died due to dengue fever in private and public sector hospitals of the city this year so far.

The private hospital sources said a girl, Habiba, resident of North Karachi, was brought to the hospital with dengue related complications couple of days ago where she died during treatment.

The report said that 214 new dengue cases were detected in Karachi in 24-hours.

In October, a total of 2,930 dengue positive cases surfaced throughout the province out of them 2,723 were detected in Karachi and 207 in other districts.

This year, a total of 6,147 dengue cases emerged in Sindh province so far out of which, 5,766 happened in Karachi and 381 in other districts.
