KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court on Saturday sentenced 14 employees of Karachi Central Jail to six to 14 years in prison for negligence in the 2017 prison break.
The convicts include Assistant Superintendent Ghulam Murtaza, Abdul Rehman Shaikh, Fahim Anwar, Salik Ayaz, and Rafiq Channa. They were all out on bail.
The police arrested them from court premises and have shifted them to jail.
Two prisoners associated with banned terror outfit Laskar-e-Jhanghvi – Shaikh Muhammad Mumtaz and Muhammad Ahmed, managed to escape at the ATC’s Judicial Complex on June 13, 2017.
Both terrorists were arrested by the CTD police in 2013 and were under-trial when they broke out of jail.
