KARACHI: A police official who was investigating in a case pertaining to the murder of anchorperson Mureed Abbas sustained serious injuries in a targeted attack on Wednesday morning.
Sub-inspector Ghous Alam was attacked by four gunmen on two motorbikes who opened fire at him when his vehicle stopped at a traffic signal in the Khudadad Colony neighborhood.
Alam who sustained serious injuries was admitted to Jinnah Hospital for medical treatment. According to SSP (investigation), he received a bullet in his face.
Reportedly, hours before the attack, Alam had arrested Adil Zaman, a prime suspect in the case.
Alam is posted at the investigation department of the South Zone police and was working on scores of major cases.
Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Kaleem Imam took notice of the attack and directed the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) East Ghulam Azfar Mahaesar to submit a detailed report of the incident.
IGP Imam directed to constitute a team to arrest the attackers. He also ordered to provide best medical treatment to the injured police officer
