LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Amir Bhatti on Friday asked Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to furnish a response in relation to Misbahul Haq’s appointment as the head coach and chief selector for the men’s cricket team.
Justice Bhatti, during the hearing of the petition regarding ths case said that Misbah is Pakistan’s star and it’s great that Pakistan didn’t hire anyone from abroad.
“We are glad that this time team has decided to benefit from local talent instead of bringing someone from abroad,” he said.
Justice further asked during the hearing of the case that in his opinion this step should be appreciated and seasoned players after retirement should offer their services for coaching national cricket team.
The petitioner argued that he has no doubts about cricket prowess and capabilities of Misbah but the method opted to hire him is against the rules and merit.
Petitioner also said that Misbah didn’t have any prior experience related to the job he has been appointed for and that’s a clear violation of the rules of PCB.
“The pay scale and other benefits being offered to him are against the law and the court must declare his appointment illegal,” petitioner insisted.
On September 4, the PCB appointed Misbah on the positions while Waqar Younis was named the bowling coach.
