KARACHI: Sindh Governor Imran Ismail on Wednesday said that there is no plan to undo the 18th Amendment or to scale down provincial autonomy.

Talking to media at Jinnah Mausoleum along with Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Ismail stressed that multiple steps are to be taken for the betterment of Karachi.

“Karachi is Pakistan’s economic hub and its progress is our foremost priority. Institutional reforms are being introduced to improve the condition of the metropolis,” he said.

Shah said that Ismail is not only a representative of the federation but of Sindh as well. He affirmed that the entire nation needs to play its part to make Pakistan a peaceful country.

Meanwhile, Shah said that the federal government has constituted a strategic committee on Karachi but he was neither consulted nor taken into confidence.

“Like the public, I have heard the constitution of the committee on the news channel.”

“I don’t know what the committee will do and what is its mandate,” he said and added he has neither been consulted nor taken into confidence on the formation of the committee.

Governor Ismail, while answering a question, said that the committee has been made under Law Minister Farogh Naseem and its task is to examine the performance of local civic authorities.
