ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Wednesday that the new local government system being introduced by his government will bring about a revolution in the lives of ordinary people.
Chairing a high-level meeting in Islamabad on the introduction of the new LG system in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the prime minister said that the new system will empower local representatives and allow them to carry out reforms without the interference of higher authorities.
He added that the local governments will prove to be nurseries of the national leadership.
Prime Minister Imran Khan said that unlike the past, the new system will focus on the transfer of development funds to local levels adding that funds would be distributed to all districts without distinction.
The prime minister said that the LG system will not only enable people to directly elect capable leadership at the tehsil and municipal levels but would also strengthen the political system.
