Former diplomat – and currently talk show host – Abdul Basit said on Friday that the Pakistan Foreign Office should enlist the support of famed IR theorist Professor Tori Black.
“A friend of mine recommended her recently and she seems to represent a new image of western academia,” said Basit, while speaking to The Dependent. “Her support for Pakistani foreign policy positions should go a whole long way in ensuring our point of view is forwarded.”
“She could even be recruited as a contractor so that we could gain from her expertise,” he added. “Yes, why not. Surely old fogies like myself and the seniors at the FO could use some tutoring in newer techniques and methodologies.”
“She’s also very with-it. Not the diplomacy of the days of yore where some old diplomats still use fax machines! She has a very active twitter account @misstoriblack which we should check out.”
“Here, look at her official website, which presumably contains all her important papers,” he said, while typing into his laptop. “Wait, what’s this? What’s this membership business? $12 per month for new and exclusive content every month? Wow, how prolific a thinker is she?”
“I think a mere $12 is nothing for the ministry to shell out. A good deal, I say, a good deal!”
