KARACHI: Dengue viral fever has claimed the life of a youngster at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) on Tuesday.
Executive Director JPMC Dr Seemin Jamali said 22-year-old Akbar Juman, a resident of Lasbella Balochistan, was brought to the hospital with dengue shock syndrome and later he died during treatment.
Program Manager, Prevention and Control Program for Dengue (PCPD) Sindh, Dr Mehmood Iqbal, said the patient was shifted from Lasbella Balochistan to Karachi for treatment.
In Sindh, a total of 1,547 dengue cases have been detected in Sindh province so far; out of them, 1,478 from Karachi and 69 from other districts. Six people have been died due to dengue fever in Karachi this year so far.
