FAISALABAD: A thief whose video of stealing an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card in Faisalabad had gone viral has been arrested from Rahim Yar Khan.
In a video that has been doing rounds on the media and the internet, the suspect, identified as Salahuddin Ayyubi can be seen stealing an ATM card after breaking open the machine in Faislabad.
On Friday, Salahuddin once again had managed to break into an ATM booth in Rahim Yar Khan and was trying to break open the ATM machine when he was apprehended by the police.
The district police officer’s spokesman, Zeeshan Randhawa said that Salahuddin is a resident of district Kamonkay, Gujranwala and had been involved in several ATM thefts across the country.
According to Zeeshan, Salahuddin had broken into ATM machines in Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Faislabad and Gujarat and had also been arrested on three prior occasions. Zeeshan also states that Salahuddin was let go every time he presented himself as being speech impaired.
“Upon his arrest (in Rahim Yar Khan), he (Salahuddin) initially put on an act, pretending to be speech-impaired, but later spoke to the investigators,” said Randhawa.
