LAHORE: The post of chief officer at the Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL) is lying vacant as the existing chief officer, Mahmood Masud Tamanna (BS 20), has withdrawn the charge with his own consent after the approval of the competent authority, Pakistan Today learnt on Monday.
It was further learnt that the Local Government and Community Development Department (LG&CD) has sent a summary to Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar for the appointment of a new candidate for the post as per the rules whereas four names have also been proposed in the summary.
The summary sent by the LG&CD to the Punjab chief minister states, “The post of Chief Officer, Metropolitan Corporation Lahore has been lying vacant since long. An additional charge of the said post was assigned to Mahmood Masud Tamanna (BS-20), Director General (I&M), Director General (Inspection & Monitoring), LG&CD Department in 2018. The said charge was withdrawn, upon the request of the officer after seeking approval of the competent authority, vide notification No.LCS(Admn)-1 (40)/86-P dated 16.08.2019 (Annexure-A). The post of Chief Officer, Metropolitan Corporation Lahore is required to be filled in by posting of Officer on regular basis”.
“A panel of following Officers of BS-19 (Administrative Functional Unit of Local Government Service) for considering anyone for posting against the vacant post of Chief Officer, Metropolitan Corporation BS-20 hereby submitted: Sardar Naseer Ahmed (BS-19/LGS) who is working presently as Chief Officer, Municipal Corporation, Faisalabad since 14.11.2018 having domicile of Okara with the seniority no 4. Similarly, Muhammad Zubair Watto (BS-19/LGS) who is presently working as MO (R ) Metropolitan Corporation Lahore since 17.07.2018 having the domicile of Okara with seniority No.5. Kh. Imran Safdar (BS-19/LGS) who is working presently as Chief Officer, Municipal Corporation, Rawalpindi since 14.02.2019 having domicile of Lahore with the seniority no 8. Ali Abbas Bukhari (BS-19/LGS) who is presently working as Dy. Chief Officer Metropolitan Corporation, Lahore since 05.03.2019 having domicile of Attock with seniority No. 11,” the summary states.
The summary further states, “The government of Punjab has imposed a complete ban on all kind of transfer/posting against vacant post till further orders vide letter dated 11.12.2018 (Annexure-B). The chief minister may kindly consider anyone officer from the panel tabulated in para 2/ante for transfer/posting against the vacant post of Chief Officer Metropolitan Corporation, Lahore”.
