The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday handed over a new questionnaire to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former interior minister Ahsan Iqbal in the Narowal Sports City corruption investigation.

Reportedly, the PML-N leader had failed to satisfy the anti-graft body with his answers which prompted them to hand over another questionnaire with additional questions. He has been given 14 days to complete the questionnaire and has been summoned again after Eidul Azha holidays.

On July 3, the former interior minister appeared before the anti-corruption watchdog’s Rawalpindi chapter in connection with the same probe. He has been accused of starting the project illegally, thus causing losses of billions of rupees to the national exchequer.

NAB launched the probe in the sports city project in 2018. In a statement issued at that time, NAB had said that the project had been built at a staggering cost of Rs6 billion which was a “gross violation of rules and burdened the national exchequer with substantial loss”.
