AG promotes 69 junior auditors

–Auditors say their struggle has paid off

LAHORE: A total of 69 junior auditors, who were working in BPS 11, were promoted to the post of senior auditors in BPS 16 at the Accountant General’s (AG) office here on Wednesday.

According to sources, the promotions were made under the supervision of Punjab AG Mian Shujjaud Din Zaka and Director General Rana Shahzad Iqbal whereas, the long effort of Punjab Civil Accounts Association (Bakhsh Elahi Shaheed Group) was also behind these promotions.

A promoted auditor, speaking on anonymity said, “We were suffering from a long time and struggling for our promotions. Some of our colleagues were also fighting cases regarding promotions in the courts. This is the time to think about those who are working in the AG office for decades and waiting for a promotion”.

Another official told this scribe that all promotions were made with only with the kind efforts of the Punjab AG. “He was very serious about this case and we got the good news after years of waiting. Our merit has been recognised after a long struggle,” he added.

While speaking to Pakistan Today Mian Shujjaud Din Zaka said that he is further working on the issue of promotions to clear hurdles for the future. “We had formed some committees over the issue and finally resolved it. Now, we are trying to regulate the whole procedure of promotions. The staff who are not involved in any case will be promoted automatically according to the new act,” he concluded.
