Vendetta: Man nominated in attempted murder case killed at Lahore district kachehri

LAHORE: A man was shot dead on Wednesday on the premises of district kachehri in Lahore after he had arrived for hearing of an attempted murder case in which he was nominated as prime accused.

Police arrested the shooter from the scene and took him to the Civil Lines police station.

The victim was nominated in a case related to an attempted murder that was registered in 2016. As per police, a man was murdered due to personal enmity which arose due to a legal case in the court.

Although, police has shifted the culprit to the Civil Lines police station but first information report (FIR) couldn’t be registered against him.

A senior civil judge of the criminal division of the district courts has submitted a report in the Lahore High Court’s registrar’s office. According to the contents of the report, the incident was the “result of a security lapse on the part of law enforcement agency (police)”. The report further states that the suspect had shot the victim five to six times after which the latter was shifted to the hospital in a critical state. He later succumbed to his injuries.

Such incidents are common in lower courts of Pakistan. Many, instead of patiently waiting for the decision of the court, resort to violence. Earlier this month, a woman was killed in Chakwal in a shooting incident outside a district court, where she had arrived for the hearing of a case.
