ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office (FO) on Thursday said that Pakistan would grant consular access to Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav in accordance with the country’s laws.
In a statement issued late on Thursday, FO said, “Pursuant to the decision of the ICJ [International Court of Justice], Commander Kulbushan Jadhav has been informed of his rights under Article 36, Paragraph 1(b) of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations.”
“As a responsible state, Pakistan will grant consular access to Commander Kulbushan Jadhav according to Pakistani laws, for which modalities are being worked out,” it added.
FO’s statement comes a day after the world court rejected India’s appeal for Jadhav’s acquittal while asking Pakistan to provide consular access to the Indian spy.
