LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Health Dr Yasmin Rashid on Thursday inaugurated the three-day free anti-hepatitis screening camp set up in Government Mozang Hospital.
Fatima Jinnah Medical University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Aamir Zaman Khan, Health Services Punjab Director-General Dr Haroon Jahangir, PKLI representatives and a large number of locals residents were present on the occasion.
While highlighting the importance of these free screening camps, Dr Yasmin said that ten per cent people are affected by this disease in Pakistan and it is highly necessary to overcome the disease of hepatitis.
The minister said that instructions have been issued to the concerned departments to launch a comprehensive awareness campaign throughout Punjab regarding hepatitis B and C.
She asked philanthropists to support government cause of eradicating fatal disease like hepatitis. “The government is taking effective measures to save the lives of mother and child. These free screening camps will provide free of cost screen facility regarding hepatitis B and C to the localities,” she added.
She said that we are determined to eradicate hepatitis from Pakistan and that Punjab Hepatitis Control Program is providing free of cost treatment facilities and medicines to the hepatitis patients throughout the province. She said that people are coming for a free screening in these camps and are being informed about the importance of screening and this disease.
She said that a project of 40 crore rupees is being launched for the safe disposal of government hospitals’ waste.
She further maintained that inquiry has been initiated to identify the responsible of expired medicines case. She said that medicines of worth Rs31 billion were purchased for the public sector hospitals of Punjab. Shortage of ventilators in public sector hospitals is an open proof of the incompetence of the former government.
She said that under the Punjab Hepatitis Control Programme (PHCP) 55 thousand barbers have been registered throughout the province.
“PML-N’s corrupt government did not complete 131 projects of public welfare. Sharif brothers intentionally ruined the villages of southern Punjab,” she said.
