Judge claims Sharifs offered him hefty bribe to resign

Following the Islamabad High Court (IHC) decision to remove accountability judge Arshad Malik, the judge has made numerous shocking claims pertaining to the corruption references against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

In an affidavit submitted to the Islamabad High Court chief justice on Friday, Judge Malik claimed that he was offered an Rs500 million bribe by Hussain Nawaz, the son of incarcerated PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif.

Hussain, in return, demanded the judge resign on the grounds that he “could no longer deal with the guilt of having convicted” Nawaz “under duress” in the Al-Azizia corruption reference.

The judge claimed that PML-N representative, Nasir Janjua, offered him hefty bribes and threatened with dire consequences by trying to force him into issuing verdicts in favour of Nawaz in the Al-Azizia and Flagship Investments references.

Judge Malik said that it was only after he refused to accept the lucrative bribes and give in to threats, the PML-N Vice President Maryam released “manipulated” videotapes wherein, she claimed, the judge had confessed give the verdict against Nawaz.
