ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Information Firdous Ashiq Awan hit back at Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz, minutes after the latter revealed ‘video evidence’ of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s innocence in Al-Azizia corruption reference.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Firdous said the forensic test of the videotape will be conducted to check its authenticity.

Her response comes minutes after Maryam, flanked by the senior party leadership, revealed a controversial video clip whereby accountability judge Arshad Malik could be heard saying that there was “no proof of corruption against the deposed premier” in the Al-Azizia reference.

Firdous said it is a violation of law to record the private conversation of any judge. The person can be seen with the Arshad Malik is Nasir Butt, who is a member of PML-N and accused in a number of criminal cases, said the premier’s adviser.
