–Imran says govt has nothing to do with Sana’s arrest
A day after the expiry of the assets declaration scheme, the prime minister said the government has given enough time to people who own benami properties and now the government will take “indiscriminate action against the benami assets and properties”.
He made these comments during a meeting of the party leaders and spokespersons that was convened to review the overall political situation of the country and hold consultations after the arrests of opposition leaders.
Speaking about the arrest of Sanaullah, he said the government had nothing to do with the arrest of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker.
Revenge politics is not the ideology of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), he added.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the government has no connections with the arrest of Rana Sanaullah.
“Politics of revenge is not the ideology of PTI,” he said.
The premier reiterated that the national institutions and courts are now working independently in Pakistan.
“Those facing cases should answer to courts. Opposition leaders want to divert the nation’s attention from their crimes by levelling baseless allegations against the government.”
PM Imran also took party leaders into confidence over his upcoming visit to the United States (US). He expressed hopes that his visit to Washington will bring improvement in Pakistan-US bilateral ties and regional situation.
