The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) session on Monday failed to reach consensus on the names for appointment of Lahore High Court (LHC) judges.

The session chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Asif Saeed Khosa presided over the matter. LHC Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan presented the names for review.

The names under review were Khalid Mehmood, Malik Waqar, Advocate Asif Saeed Rana, former judget Abdul Rehman Aurangzaib, Advocate Zubair Khalid, Mushtaq Mohal, Advocate Nasir Mehmood, Barrister Waheed Khan and Humayun Imtiaz. Sessions’ judges, including Shakeel Ahmed, Safdar Salim and Shakeel Ahmed, were also recommended by the LHC CJ.

After mulling over the names, the session concluded without any consensus between those responsible for approving the names and subsequently the LHC CJ was asked to come up with a fresh list of names for the said purpose.
