ISLAMABAD: President Arif Alvi on Monday signed the Finance Bill 2019-20 which was forwarded to him after its approval from the National Assembly last week.
According to a government spokesperson, President Arif Alvi had signed the bill a day after it was forwarded to him.
The Lower House approved the bill with a simple majority of 176 against 146 votes in opposition on Friday as the joint opposition failed to obstruct its passage.
The government had presented an Rs7.022 trillion budget focusing on fiscal consolidation, revenue mobilization, austerity measures and protection to the vulnerable segments of society.
The treasury benches rejected almost all the amendments to the finance bill moved by the opposition members after there was a discussion on them by both sides, whereas amendments moved by Minister for Finance and Revenue Hammad Azhar were adopted by the house.
