Murder case filed against lawyer, wife over discovery of teen’s corpse in house

A first information report (FIR) of murder was filed against a lawyer and his wife over the recovery of a 14-year-old domestic help’s dead body from their house on Monday.

Police said they have registered a case against lawyer Chaudhry Manzoor and his wife after the deceased’s mother registered the FIR alleging that her daughter was murdered; however, they added that no arrests have been made as yet.

According to the girl’s mother, her daughter was employed at Manzoor’s residence some 40 days ago. She received a call from the lawyer’s house, saying her daughter’s condition was not good and that she should take her away. However, upon arrival, the lawyer’s family claimed that the girl had committed suicide.

The body, which had been sent for post-mortem earlier, was handed over to the bereaved family after the process was completed after which the relatives took it headed to their hometown in Pakpattan for the burial.

Further, police noted that the girl was against her mother’s second marriage due to which they often had arguments. Regardless, the forensic and post-mortem reports would give a better insight into the details of the murder.

A day prior, the teen’s body was found with a noose tied around her neck from the lawyer house in Ichhra.

Her mother has appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar for justice. “My daughter did not commit suicide. She was murdered,” she said.
