At least 31 people were killed and 13 others were injured in a road accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district.
According to initial reports, the accident took place after a bus, carrying the passengers, fell into a deep gorge in Kishtwar. Authorities are present at the accident spot.
Local sources said that the death toll in the accident may rise even further, reported India Today.
Reports claimed that the passenger vehicle, a minibus bearing registration number JK17-6787, was on its way to Kishtwar from Keshwan when it skidded off the road near Srigwari and fell into a deep gorge. Locals said the vehicle was overloaded.
According to officials, the accident took place at 8.40 am when the minibus was heading towards Kishtwar from Keshwan.
Locals with the help of police and administration are engaged in the rescue operation. Police said that the first priority is to ensure rescue and safety of the passengers.
