Birth defect remark was not for a specific person, Firdous claims

Special Assistant to PM for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Friday said that her statement regarding birth defect was not for a specific person.

Talking to a private news channel, Firdous said that defected are the ones who contradict between their words and actions.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, the government’s spokesperson said that “Prime Minister Imran Khan has a mandate. The parliament selected him first and elected him by the official voting but, there is one political leader who has been rejected by the Supreme Court for a lifetime”.

“Selected, elected, and rejected for a lifetime should be talked about, as there is one political leader who was born with birth-defects,” she quipped.

Talking to the news channel, she said, “Birth-defect is a medical term and why is it being politically crafted? I won’t take my words back. The statement was not for a specific person.”

“Every person who contradicts his words with his actions is born with a birth defect, it can also be a political person who might have physical, medical, and psychological defects by birth.”
