KARACHI: A young couple who had married of their own free will was recently killed in Lyari on Tuesday night.

Sources said that 26-year-old  Muhammad Abdullah Dashti and his wife, Hajra, 18, were strangulated to death in Khuda ke Basti Lyari No36 in the premises of Surjani Police Station.

Bashir Dashit told PPI that his cousin Abdullah contracted free-will marriage with Hajra about a week ago and was allegedly killed by the woman’s family members for ‘honour’.  He was a constructor by profession and Hajra was his second wife.

The Surjani police have lodged an FIR against Naseebullah and others on a double murder case.

The bodies were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for a post-mortem examination where Abdullah’s autopsy was performed while the body of Hajra was moved to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for postmortem due to unavailability of a lady MLO.
