Bahawalnagar DC removed for not obeying minister’s ‘illegal’ order

In an apparent case of political intervention in administrative affairs, Bahawalnagar Deputy Commissioner Rana Saleem was removed from his post.

According to a private news channel, provincial minister Shaukat Lalika reportedly pressurised DC to open the illegal petrol pumps that were shut by him. However, the DC refused to accept the orders of the provincial minister after which the latter complained to Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.

According to the report, DC Saleem had investigated illegal transfers and corruption was revealed during the probe. One officer was sacked while 7 others were made OSD.

Commenting on the charge, Shoukat Lalika said the DC conducted a sports festival but their pictures were not displayed and they complained to CM. He said the petrol pump is in the name of his manager. DC Saleem was transferred on the orders of Chief Minister Buzdar.
