ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Friday said a VIP prisoner in hidden words asked for National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) in the National Assembly and said the process of accountability should stop.
Speaking to the media, Awan said, “No one can escape punishment. This law applies to everyone. This is Imran Khan’s Naya Pakistan.”
“It was the prime minister’s determination to start the process of accountability from the powerful and it is a win for the prime minister that the powerful are in the hands of law,” she added.
Awan added, the government coalition parties have assured them of their full support on budget and other matters.
She further said the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) is playing its role in the Centre and Punjab in making sure the budget is passed. “A delegation of PML-Q met with the prime minister and assured him they will get the budget approved.”
Responding to a question about the notice sent by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to PM Imran Khan on his visit to Ghotki, Awan said, “I am surprised about the notice sent to the prime minister. The prime minister was in Ghotki to pay his respects on the passing of one of his minister. He did not speak to the media nor did he speak about the issues of the provincial government.”
“It is questionable that the ECP is not taking notice of the members of other parties participating in election campaign,” she added.
