Qatari emir arriving on Saturday on two-day visit

ISLAMABAD: Qatar emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani will arrive in Pakistan on Saturday on a two-day official visit.

“Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani is visiting Pakistan on June 22-23 on the invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan,” the Foreign Office said in a statement on Friday.

During his stay in Islamabad, Al Thani will hold talks with PM Imran and President Arif Alvi to “discuss ways and means of building a robust and mutually beneficial economic partnership”.
Several MOUs, agreements “for enhanced bilateral cooperation in different areas” are expected to be signed between Islamabad and Doha.

Earlier, officials had claimed that the Qatari emir was likely to announce major investment in Pakistan during his visit to Islamabad.

He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising key ministers and senior officials of his cabinet, read the statement.

Al Thani previously visited Pakistan in March 2015.
