ISLAMABAD: A pregnant woman who had been forced to drink acid by her husband succumbed to internal bleeding and injuries on Wednesday in a hospital in Islamabad, a media outlet reported.
The woman was resident of Al Noor colony in Islamabad. She was forced to drink acid at her residence, Bhara Kahu police station confirmed.
A first information report (FIR) was registered on behalf of the deceased’s brother and police began investigation into the matter right after it.
Brother of the deceased woman told media that her sister has a nine-year-old daughter. Nobody informed us about the incident, we came to know about it when we received a call from the hospital, he further told.
Police told media that they have filed the FIR under Section 336 and initiated an investigation. The woman gave birth to a stillborn baby three days earlier, they explained.
Police told the media that now they are waiting for the post-mortem report to take any further action.
