The Board of Governors (BoG) of the Pakistan Cricket Council (PCB) during a meeting on Wednesday expressed disappointment over the “below expectation” performance of the cricket team in the ongoing World Cup but hoped that the national team will bounce back.
The meeting was chaired by PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani and was attended by members Asad Ali Khan, Lt Gen (r) Muzammil Hussain, Kabir Ahmed Khan, Muhammad Imran Farookhi , Muhammad Ayaz Butt, Shahrez Abdullah Khan, Shahdost, Akbar Durrani.
“[The BoG] expressed faith, support and confidence in the side, and hoped they will utilise all their talent and potential in the remaining matches to bounce back strongly and finish on a high,” a press release by the PCB said.
At the same time, the participants also agreed that “the PCB will carry out a robust review and analysis of the side’s and the team support personnel’s performances in the past three years” once the World Cup is over. The findings and recommendations will then be submitted to the chairman and BoG.
It is pertinent to mention here that the team must win the remaining two matches scheduled against South Africa and New Zealand in order to qualify for the semifinals.
