ISLAMABAD: The Senate session on Wednesday was adjourned for another day as security was called in the House to control the ruckus created by government members when Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Maulana Attaur Rehman accused Prime Minister Imran Khan of insulting the ‘sahaba’ during his address to the nation.
When Rehman started his speech, Senator Naeem Wazir tried to move towards the opposition benches and Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar also entered the field to fight.
Security was called to control the ruckus which had the potential to turn into a brawl.
Leader of the House Syed Shibli Faraz said urged the members to avoid spreading anarchy through religious speeches as “this fire will burn everyone”. Opposition members urged that the premier should be asked to avoid talking about religion.
Realising the gravity of the situation, the session was adjourned till Thursday at 4 pm.
