ISLAMABAD: Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) President Sardar Akhtar Mengal visited Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Tuesday to discuss the current political situation and the upcoming All Parties Conference (APC).
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Fazl said that Mengal had given a “positive response” to the question of attending the APC, however, he is yet to announce his final decision. He hoped that the APC would be held in the coming week.
When asked about his stance on the budget proposed by the government, Mengal said that it is important for all parties to come up with a national agenda that supports democracy and discusses ways of providing relief to the people who are burdened by the worsening economic conditions and the injustices committed by the rulers of the country.
“Many budgets have been announced in the past but they did not change the situation of the country,” he added.
On Monday, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari met Fazl separately to discuss the political situation and the APC. The joint opposition agreed that the budget presented by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government for the next fiscal year is an “economic suicide” and would make it hard for the common man to make ends meet, therefore, it is their responsibility to oust the government.
