Two policemen gunned down in Orangi Town

KARACHI: Two policemen were gunned down on Monday when unidentified attackers opened fire at them in Karachi’s Orangi Town.

Police said that the firing incident took place in Orangi Town No 4 area at around 8am. The personnel were coming to their respective stations to report for duty when they were attacked by four armed men who were following them.

As soon the local police station was informed about the incident, a police team reached the site and cordoned it off to collect evidence. The bodies were shifted to a nearby medical facility for medical and legal formalities.

The Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) West told media that he suspects this incident as a targeted attack. Four spent bullet casings of a 9mm pistol were recovered from the scene, the initial investigation revealed.

The killed policemen, posted in Mominabad, were identified as Sepoy Allahdita and Sepoy Ahmed Ali.

Additional Inspector General (IG) Amir Sheikh took notice of the incident and sought a report from the SSP West at the earliest.
