Govt declares Sindh Assembly speaker’s chamber sub-jail

KARACHI: The provincial government has declared Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani’s chamber at the provincial assembly a sub-jail to detain him for the time being, according to media reports on Sunday.

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had filed a case against him for assets beyond means and at the moment he was in judicial custody.

As per reports, provincial assembly’s secretary confirmed that the chamber has been declared a sub-jail to detain the speaker.

As per NAB’S charge-sheet, 20 other along with Siraj were involved in corruption of up to 1.6 billion rupees. The reference against them was filed in the accountability court after an inquiry which lasted for 3 months and 10 days.
