Two killed, six injured as car hits rickshaw in DHA

KARACHI: A woman and a child were killed and six others injured when a speeding car rammed into a rickshaw in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) in the wee hours of Friday.

According to rescue sources, a fast-moving car hit a rickshaw in Shehbaz commercial area of the DHA. As a result, a 50-year-old woman, Sabira and a five-year-old child, Moez suffered severe injuries and died on the spot, while six people, including  Mudasir, Owais, Mubashir, Ghulam Muhammad and Bushra sustained injuries.

Police said that the accident occurred in Shehbaz commercial area the car while attempting a sharp turn without reducing speed rammed into the rickshaw. They said the car driver was arrested from the spot.

The bodies and injured were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for autopsies and treatment, respectively.
