LAHORE: The opposition members in the Punjab Assembly on Friday disrupted the session by tearing the copies of the provincial budget for the financial year 2019-20 and raising slogans against the government.

The opposition termed the budget anti-people and vowed to oppose its passage from the House.

As soon as Punjab Finance Minister Hashim Jawan Bakht’s budget speech started, the opposition members stood up from their benches and shouted slogans. Due to the uproar and lack of discipline in the assembly, the affairs came to a standstill. However, Hashim didn’t take much notice of the noise and kept delivering his speech.

The opposition said that the new budget is nothing but merely a “collection of polished jargon to fool the common man”.

They added that the PTI government has “completely destroyed Punjab”.

The session was adjourned till 3pm after the completion of the minister’s speech due to the ruckus caused by the opposition.
