Customs foil heroin smuggling bid in Karachi

KARACHI: A Customs department team foiled a heroin smuggling bid by arresting three smugglers, who were trying to smuggle heroin abroad from Jinnah International Airport Karachi on Friday.

According to sources, a team of Pakistan Customs was checking the luggage of passengers, who were attempting to smuggle the narcotics to Jeddah via PIA’s PK 731.

The custom officials recovered 570 grams of crystal meth and 170 grams of heroin from the smugglers’ possession. The customs officials said drugs had hidden in three suitcases. The suspects, including two women, were stated to belong from Rohri, Sukkur.

The value of seized contraband has been estimated at worth Rs7 million. The customs official have registered a case against the accused and started further investigation.
