LONDON: British Home Secretary Sajid Javid on Thursday signed an extradition order to send WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to the United States, UK media reported.
Talking to BBC, Sajid Javid confirmed that he signed and certified the papers on Wednesday, with the order going before the UK courts on Friday.
It’s the first step in what could prove to be a lengthy legal battle over whether the Assange should face prosecution in the United States for his actions surrounding the publication of classified materials from former US Army analyst Chelsea Manning in 2010.
