-NA speaker directs Interior Ministry to devise mechanism making it difficult for a criminal to flee to another country
ISLAMABAD: National Assembly (NA) Speaker Asad Qaiser on Monday directed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police to expedite efforts for immediately arresting the prime accused in the murder of three brothers in Charsadda to ensure that exemplary punishment is given as a warning to other criminals.
The meeting was chaired by Raja Khurram Shahzad Nawaz and attended by Sardar Talib Hassan Nakai, Sher Akbar Khan, Mehar Ghulam Muhammad Lali, Nafeesa Inayatullah Khan Khattak, Muhammad Akhtar Mengal, Malik Sohail Khan, Syed Iftikhar ul Hassan, Muhammad Pervaiz Malik, Marriyum Aurangzeb and Nawab Muhammad Yousaf Talpur.
Speaking in the NA Standing Committee on Interior, he directed the Interior Ministry to cut short the process of issuing and implementing the red warrants.
He directed the foreign office to contact Malaysia for the speedy repatriation of the accused and directed the concern to prepare a hefty compensation package for the bereaved families of the three murdered, he himself contacted the KP chief minister for approval of the order.
Further, he directed the Interior Ministry to devise a mechanism which would make it difficult for a criminal to flee to another country. “There must be an online system which should immediately block an accused’s passport and Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) so that he or she cannot flee justice,” he said.
He directed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police to submit the latest report on the progress in investigations in the next week meeting of the committee.
Earlier while briefing the committee, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Muhammad Ali Gandapur said that an FIR of the murder of was registered immediately. “The relatives of the aggrieved party were satisfied with the investigations so far. The incident has no link with terrorism. The three brothers were brutally murdered on a petty property dispute,” he informed.
Interior Minister Ejaz Shah said that the prime accused in murder, Nadir, used to organise parties and often indulged in firing incidents. “The government is trying best to repatriate the accused from Malaysia,” he said.
Chairman Standing Committee on Interior pledged to constitute a subcommittee for keeping a close vigil on the progress on the case and also vowed to include a practicing senior lawyer in the subcommittee to monitoring the investigation progress.
Local MNAs Fazal Muhammad and Malik Anwar Taj briefed the committee about murders in their respective constituencies.
