Ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday met with his family and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders at Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore after which it was revealed that the former premier needs better healthcare.

According to the details, Nawaz’s mother, daughter Maryam and son-in-law Captain (r) Safdar had also brought the former premier’s and personal physician Dr Adnan Khan along with them.

Following the meeting, Dr Adnan tweeted that Nawaz Sharif continues to suffer from uncontrolled high blood pressure which requires further work-up, labs and electrocardiogram (ECG) and added that doctors from the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC), who conducted former premier’s health check up on Wednesday, advised sublingual medication to him fearing hypertensive emergency owing to unsupervised environment at Kot Lakhpat.

The doctor was of the opinion that Nawaz requires specialized healthcare.

The jailed premier’s daughter also added to the original tweet saying that his personal physicians had advised against medicines prescribed by PIC doctors which can decrease his blood pressure out of the blue, increasing the chances of a stroke as he has been prescribed max dosage.

She further said that sublingual medication must not be done without 24/7 monitoring which is not possible in jail.

Further, Nawaz advised the PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz to participate in the All Parties Conference (APC) anti-government movement for the restoration of judiciary.
