ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday lauded the nation’s children for voluntarily taking Eidi cuts in this year’s family budgets, in line with broader austerity measures being introduced by their parents.

The premier noted that these cuts were agreed to despite “multiple junk food challenges”. He further stated that the parents would divert the money saved to the veranda and store room that the children had misused for their activities, and needed fixing.

“I appreciate Pak children’s unprecedented voluntary initiative of stringent cuts in their Eidis for next FY bec of their parents’ critical financial situation, despite multiple junk food challenges. The parents will spend this money saved on dev of merged verandas & store rooms,” the PM tweeted.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, nation’s children reaffirmed the voluntarily Eidi cuts taken. The children’s spokesperson Bablu said in a press conference that the “voluntary cuts in the Eidi would not be at the cost of TV time and ice cream.”

“We shall maintain effective response potential to all threats against our junk food and play time. We will also manage impact of the cut through appropriate internal measures. We are told it was important to fix the veranda and store room,” sulked Bablu.
