MAKKAH: Prime Minister Imran Khan will attend the 14th Summit of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) being held in Makkah today.
The conference, titled ‘Makkah Summit: Together for the Future’, is being hosted by Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and aims at developing a unified stance of Muslim leaders on the rising tension in the Gulf.
Earlier, on his arrival in Madina as part of his three-day visit to Saudi Arabia, Prime Minister visited Roza-e-Rasool (PBUH) and offered prayers for the progress and prosperity of the country and Muslim community.
Prime Minister also performed Umrah along with first lady Bushra Maneka. KPK and Punjab Chief Ministers Mehmood Khan and Usman Buzdar, respectively, also accompanied the premier during his Umrah.
A day earlier, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi condemned Indian atrocities in Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK) and urged the international community to probe the grave human rights abuses in the held valley.
The foreign minister said this while addressing a session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Jammu and Kashmir in Jeddah. He was leading Pakistan’s delegation in the meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) in Jeddah, a precursor to the 14th Islamic Summit Conference due to be held in Makkah.
He said that Kashmiri youth taking to streets shows their lack of faith in Indian leadership.
“Kashmiris’ right to self-determination continues to be denied through illegal occupation and a concerted campaign of torture, humiliation, rape, and violence,” said Qureshi.
