ISLAMABAD – The clash between Ministry of Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry and the Ruet-e-Hilal committee was overcome after a compromise was reached in the launch of the moonsighting app.
Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry on Thursday announced that ‘The Ruet’ mobile application which displays the various phases of, and other real-time information about, the moon, will have its own popup Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman.
‘The Ruet’, which is available on the Google Play store for download, has a digitalised Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman attached to the lunar calendar, which exclusively announces the Eid dates on one’s device.
“While the lunar calendar for the next five years would be visible on The Ruet, all Eid dates will have Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman in the background,” Chaudhry said.
The main features of ‘The Ruet’ include, current phase and age of the moon, Islamic Hijri Calendar, setting location manually to any coordinates in Pakistan, and regular screen time to all present and past members of the Ruet-e-Hilal committee.
“Furthermore, on the eve of every Eid, Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman will pop up from your app to confirm that the Eid mood has been sighted,” Chaudhry added.
