As Pakistan is all set to face West Indies in its first World Cup match on Friday at Trent Bridge, Nottingham reports have emerged that Mohammad Amir is not completely fit to offer his services to the team for the first match.

Reportedly, Amir has informed the head coach Mickey Arthur about his fitness issue due to which he wants more rest before gearing up for the next important matches. Sources claim that the team management has decided to not let him play on Friday against West Indies.

27-year-old Amir has been facing fitness issues since his arrival in England. He didn’t play three One Day International matches against England also due to a viral infection. However, he was included in the team in place of Faheem Ashraf despite his poor performance in the last fifteen ODIs where he picked just five wickets.
