LAHORE: Youm-e-Ali, martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS) was observed across the country on Monday with religious fervour and reverence amid heightened security.
Extensive traffic and security plans were prepared for major processions which were taken out in major cities of the country. The plans were developed in order to provide safety to citizens and ensure minimum inconvenience.
In Karachi, the main procession of the day was taken out from Nishtar Park which culminated at Imambargah Hussainia Iranian at Kharadar in the evening. In Lahore, the main procession was taken out from Mochi Gate inside the Walled City of Lahore and passing through various localities, it culminated at Karbala Gamay Shah outside Bhatti Gate. Majalis-e-Aza were also held at various Imambargahs across the country.
Strict security measures were taken to maintain law and order on the occasion. Pillion riding was banned in Lahore and cellphone services were also temporarily suspended to ensure security.
