RATODERO: As many as 18 new HIV positive cases were detected at Ratodero Taluka Headquarter Hospital (THQ) here on Monday bringing the total to 700.
According to the details, 383 people were screened out which 18 were detected HIV positive and one person was also found suffering from HIV Virus at outreach site of Banguldero where 34 people were tested.
According to Sindh AIDS Control Program (SACP) figures, so far 23,671 people from general population have been tested out of which 700 have been found infected with HIV viral disease and among them 124 are adults and 576 are children.
At other outreach sites apart from Rural Health Center (RHC), Banguldero, screening was also continued at RHC Naundero, where 56 were tested, in Lashari village 20 people were tested and four at Pir Bux Bhutto but SACP figures claimed that all 114 turned out to be negative.
Meanwhile, Medical Superintendent, RHC, Naundero, Dr Gul Muhammad Hakro, disclosed that two HIV positive cases have been detected here and both are residents of a village located in between Ratodero & Naundero.He said since last 11 days screening was constantly conducted at the RHC here during which 1450 people were tested out of which two cases have so far been found positive on 11th day and they both are 20-years mother and her 3-year son.
