ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday dismissed a petition seeking to bar PM’s Adviser on Finance Abdul Hafeez Shaikh from presenting the upcoming budget in the National Assembly.

The petition — which was heard by IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah — stated that Abdul Hafeez Shaikh could not present the budget. To which, Justice Minallah observed that there is no such condition as to who could or could not present the budget.

Justice Minallah told the petitioner that he “should have been prepared [before appearing in front of the court]” and such petitions “should not be submitted in court”. The petition was then termed untenable and subsequently dismissed.
