KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Saturday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for four absconding suspects who were said to be involved in the murder of former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Ali Raza Abidi.

ATC heard the trial of detained suspects in Abidi’s murder and ordered non-bailable warrants for the absconding offenders.

The Counter-Terrorism  Department (CTD) booked and detained four suspects, including  Mohammad Farooq, Abdul Haseeb, Mohammad Ghazali and Abu Bakar, in the murder case.

However, detained suspects had alleged that four absconding accomplices Bilal, Hasnain, Faizan and Ghulam Mustafa were involved in the murder case. The Investigation Officer (IO) submitted that the four suspects absconding in the case had not been arrested yet and sought arrest warrants.

The court ordered for non-bailable warrants to be issued for arrest of the absconders and hearing has been adjourned until May 31.

Abidi, a former lawmaker, was shot dead by armed motorcyclists near his residence in Defence Housing Authority, Phase-V, on Dec 25 last year.
