ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan Television (PTV) managing director Shahid Masood on Tuesday challenged an earlier verdict in the PTV corruption case in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday.
IHC Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani presided the hearing during which the Islamabad High Court (IHC) issued notices to the government and summoned a response.
The defence argued that the April 25 verdict of the trial court be annulled as “legal requirements were not considered while dismissing the acquittal plea”.
“The accused has already returned the embezzled amount.”
The court then adjourned the hearing of the case till July 4.
Masood is accused of signing a broadcasting rights agreement in exchange for cricket matches with fake a company.
According to the FIA’s investigation, at the time of the agreement, Masood paid the company a sum of over Rs3 million. The entity was registered in Lahore and provided catering services.
Two co-accused Kashif Rabbani and Roshan Mustafa have reportedly returned a sum of Rs29 million against the dismissal of bail, the security agency maintained.
